Since my budjet is kinda meh I am not going to pay 2 euros for 15 feathers when i need about 200 of them on one side of the wing (54 packs of wings is 108 euros and yes that is a lot to me) So i decided to make the feathers myself out of wire and fake leather and imo the result doesn't look that bad. Plus i really like making stuff myself and this way the wings will get a unique touch to them too
I kinda like that the feathers have the "outlines" cause it only brings out more of the fact that it's an anime character :D and depending on the light they have a very nice shine as well
And that's the jacket :3 Pretty much the way i left it before proceeding with the whole thing for a year > _ <
And that's the wig waiting to be dyed :D ordered some violet copic-marker ink and just have to buy paint thinner and vòila ^ ^
and yes wigs can be dyed with water, rubbing alcohol and alcohol based ink. Here's shortly how it's done:
IF YOU CAN'T DO THIS OUTSIDE THEN COVER YOUR WHOLE BATHROOM AND MAKE SURE THERE IS SOME SORT OF VENTILATION !! YOU CANNOT GET ALL THE DYE OFF IF SOME OF IT GOES ON THE FLOOR
Note that when dying a wig it's more like tinting. For example if you want to dye your wig red and it's yellow this most likely wont work. THE DYE WORKS SO THAT THE END RESULT IS THE ORIGINAL WIG COLOR MIXED WITH THE DYE COLOR (in my case i need a purple wig the wig color is red so i use blue ink to dye it)
- rubbing alcohol
- alcohol based ink (copic refill)
- rubber gloves
- hair dryer
- a comb
- a wig head
- a spray bottle
(for a short wig you need atleast 0,75 deciliter's of water, 1,75 liter's of alcohol and a half a bottle of refill. For a long wig you need the whole refill or even 2)
2. Wear gloves. mix the alcohol, water and copic refills in the spray bottle.
Put the wig on the wig head and secure it with pins or something to hold it there
3. Start spraying the wig with the dye mix.
It's best to dry it as you're spraying the wig cause the dye is no thicker than water and tends to drip off and make a mess. (this happens to me every time regardless of drying it >_>)
4. After the dyeing let the wig dry. Completely.
Leave it dry on the wig head
5. Washing off the extra dye.
Wash the wig with cold water. If you've done everything like you should, almost no color should come off
6. Condition the wig.
after dyeing the wig turns a bit coarse so this will help to make it a bit smoother again...
Now just place the wig hanging from somewhere and wait for it to dry....
